Monday Muse: Grace Hopper

Talk about a force of nature! This woman is Grace Hopper, the inventor of the compiler (a program that turns one programming language into another), as well as the term debugging, high-level programming languages (these are much simpler than lets say binary because they use language the way we do!), as well as being one of the first programmers for Harvard Mark I, a computer used during World War II. Honestly this is only scratching the surface of everything that she’s done. Her legendary accomplishments in computer science stand as a testament to the impact women have had in computer science. We’ve always been here, we are here, and we will continue to be here no matter who tries to say otherwise. Thank you Grace Hopper for being such an amazing inspiration, not only with your work, but with your words of wisdom, words that I (for better or worse) have come to live by.
